Oil & Water by Michael O'Brien
*COMING SOON*
Looking to add a new packet trick or two to you routine? Don't worry, I've got you covered. Ever since seeing El Maestro Rene Lavand perform his version of the "Oil & Water" effect (you know, the one where he cannot do it any slower) I fell in love with the plot. Imagine mixing red and black cards together then under the fairest of conditions they separate, just like Oil & Water do!
Since seeing the original I have come up with a few variations of some classic plots in magic that utilize 4 red cards and 4 black cards. Let's take a look at the routines you will learn in this series!
Progressive Oil & Water - This multiple phase Oil & Water gets progressively more difficult as more and more cards are added. At the same time the magician handles the cards less and less ending with an impossible phase 100% in the spectator's hands and THEY make all of the decisions which cards are shuffled and how.
Erie Cards - This is the original method behind the final phase of the POW as mentioned above. In this version by Kent Arthur, the magician shuffles the cards and very easily and without asking ay questions can name the chosen thought of card. No picking and controlling. No fishing or guessing. You just name the card the spectator merely thought of.
Reset with a Twist - One at a time the 4 red faced cards turn face down in the magician's hands. Then with just a click of the fingers the cards are turned over and revealed to actually be the 4 black cards which have transposed with the 4 red cards that are now underneath the spectator's hand!
Out of This Neighborhood - The smallest, fastest, and least painful version of the "Out of This World" plot you will ever learn. The magician shuffles the 4 red cards and 4 black cards together and asks the spectator to blindly divide them into two piles. It is then revealed that the spectator somehow managed to place all of the red cards in one pile and all of the black cards in the other!
