How to catch Pokémon using MAGIC!If you are not already aware (i.e. You are living under a rock) the new "Pokémon GO" game by Niantic is sweeping the world with its incredibly interactive gameplay! The game is a great way to get out of the house, meet new people, and get some exercise. Magicians Michael O'Brien and David Bonfadini take their love for both Pokémon and magic and bring them together in an epic episode of "The Magic Crasher!" "Tips for the Professional Magician" Here are some tips for any of you professional magicians out there who may be enjoying this blog. What I did was take a simple idea like the "Card to Pocket" and translate it into something I knew my younger audiences (and in many ways people my age) would enjoy and connect with. If you are performing card magic for a five year old, they may not be able to remember that they chose the "three of clubs," but you can bet your bottom dollar that they will remember "Pikachu!" This doesn't just mean you should use "Pokémon Cards." Try to find new ways to incorporate trends, products, or things that your demographic can connect with. Maybe perform using a deck of "Frozen" playing cards at a little girl's birthday party, or use business cards to perform simple card tricks for corporate events. Use your imagination and see what exciting things you can come up with! "In Conclusion" Trends are always popping up and the new "Pokémon GO" game is perhaps the hottest right now. For those of you who are already playing, please be safe. Be sure to always watch where you are going, NEVER play while driving, and stay clear of areas that may not seem safe (especially after dark.) Remember that though it is fun to challenge your rival team and have friendly banter, it is never ok to bully or exclude people. We are all in this together and the more helpful we can be for one another the better off the game will be. A huge thank you to magician David Bonfadini and his crew for featuring me on an episode of "The Magic Crasher" and for helping put together such a fun experience for Pokémon Trainers and enthusiasts all around the world!
