Effect:
    The Magician allows the spectator to choose a card, memorize is and place it into the deck. He asks the spectator to name the card they chose. The magician hands the spectator the deck and asks the to spell down to their card as they deal cards off the deck face-down onto the table. The spectator does as they are instructed, and surprisingly enough, the last card the spectator spells to is revealed to be the named card.

Explanation:
    Begin by allowing the spectator to choose a card at random. As they are showing the card around to the audience, turn your back and count off the top thirteen cards of the deck and hold them in your right hand. Turn back to the spectator and allow them to place their card on top of the deck in your left hand. Place the thirteen cards back on top of the selected card controlling it to the fourteenth position. Ask the spectator to name their selected card.

    Once they have named their card, add up the number of letters in the “Value” of the card (Number card or Face card Value) and add them to the number of letters in the “Suit” (Clubs, Hearts, diamonds, Spades). For example if the spectator chose the “Ace of Spades” you would add the numbers in “Ace” (3) to the numbers in “Spades” (6) to equal 9 (3+6=9).

    Hand the deck to the spectator and ask them to deal cards face-down onto the table using one of the six methods below, depending on the sum you get from adding the suits and values together.

-Formula for sum of 8: Spell out T-H-E + Value + O-F + Suit. The selection will be the next card on the top of the  deck. For example if the spectator chose the “Two of Clubs”, you would spell  T-H-E-T-W-O-O-F-C-L-U-B-S, as the spectator deals cards face-down off the top of the deck. The next card on the top of the deck will be the spectator’s “Two of Clubs”.

-Formula for sum of 9: Spell out T-H-E + Value + O-F + Suit. The selection will be the last card you put down onto the table (The card on the top of the face-down pile of cards). For example if the spectator chose the “Ace of Spades”, you would spell T-H-E-A-C-E-O-F-S-P-A-D-E-S as the spectator deals cards face-down off the top of the deck. The last card you deal down will be the spectator’s “Ace of Spades”.

-Formula for sum of 10: In order to spell down to a card whose sum equals ten, we must first move the selected card to the fifteenth position in the deck. To do this, hold the cards in your hands so that you can see the faces.     Remove a random card from the lower part of the deck (within the first 15-20 or so cards you can see).  (NOTE* Be careful not to go too far and interrupt the order of the top half of the deck). Ask the spectator if it is the card they chose. They will say no and you will pretend that you messed up. Place the deck face-down onto the table and place the random card face-down on top of the deck. (NOTE* By placing the random card onto the top of the deck, you have now moved the selected card to the fifteenth position in the deck). Ask them to find the card themselves by spelling to the card. Then spell out T-H-E + Value + O-F + Suit.

    The selection will be the last card you put down onto the table (The card on the top of the face-down pile of cards). For example if the spectator chose the “Queen of Clubs”,  perform the add on move, moving the “Queen of Clubs” to the fifteenth position. Then spell T-H-E-Q-U-E-E-N-O-F-C-L-U-B-S as the spectator deals cards face-down off the top of the deck. The last card you deal down will be the spectator’s “Queen of Clubs”.

-Formula for sum of 11:  Spell out Value + O-F + Suit. The selection will be the next card on the top of the  deck. For example if the spectator chose the “Three of Spades”, you would spell out T-H-R-E-E-O-F-S-P-A-D-E-S as the spectator deals cards face-down onto the table. The next card on the top of the deck will be the spectator’s “Three of Spades”.

-Formula for sum of 12: Spell out Value + O-F + Suit. The selection will be the last card you put down onto the table (The card on the top of the face-down pile of cards). For example if the spectator chose the “Nine of Diamonds”, you would spell out N-I-N-E-O-F-D-I-A-M-O-N-D-S as the spectator deals cards face-down onto the table. The last card you deal down will be the spectator’s “Nine of Diamonds”.

-Formula for sum of 13: Spell out Value + Suit. For example id the spectator chose the “Queen of Diamonds” you would say “Ok lets spell out “Queen” and spell Q-U-E-E-N, as the spectator deals cards face-down onto the table. Then you would say “and the suit was “Diamonds” and spell out D-I-A-M-O-N-D-S as the spectator deals cards face-down onto the table. The next card on the top of the deck will be the spectator’s “Queen of Diamonds”.

                                                     Formula Chart

                                 8 = THE + Value + O-F + Suit + 1
                               9 = THE + Value + O-F + Suit
                     10 = Add on 1 + T-H-E + Value + O-F + Suit
                                 11 = Value + O-F + Suit + 1

                                   12 = Value + O-F + Suit
                                    13 = Value + Suit + 1
